What is Self-Storage?

Self-storage is an affordable, efficient way for you to store your possessions in a clean and secure environment. Self-storage makes it easy to store items of all shapes and sizes in one convenient storage location. You provide the lock and keep the only key(s).

Do I need climate control?

This decision depends on a number of factors including what type of items are being stored.  Climate Control provides added protection for your stored goods and our premium HVAC systems control both temperature and humidity.  Please consult our storage experts who would be more than happy to recommend the ideal unit to best suit your specific needs.  Call us today at 757-962-6914.

What are the lease terms?

All of our rentals are on a month-to-month basis and automatically renew monthly until you give us a vacate notice.

What hours can a unit be rented?

Rent online 24/7. Complete and sign the rental paperwork and move-in daily from 7 AM – 9 PM.

Do you pro-rate rent?

Jack Rabbit does not pro-rate monthly rental rates. We will be happy to charge you for a few extra days past your due day. We do not refund partial months.

What size units do you have and how much do they cost?

We have a wide variety of unit sizes to meet your needs. Unit sizes and prices vary by location.

How do I pay for my unit?

Payments can be processed in person, by telephone, by mail or through our website. You may also arrange for payments to be drafted from your account or charged to your credit card monthly with our free autopay service.

What is a “Rate-Lock Guarantee?”

Our RATE-LOCK GUARANTEE will allow you to budget knowing your rent will remain steady for one year.

Who has access to my space besides me?

You will be the only one to have access to your unit, unless you add someone to your account to have authorized access. You will need to provide your authorized access person(s) with your gate code and the key to your lock.

Is vehicle storage allowed?

Yes, we recommend at least a 10×20 size unit for most vehicles. Extended trucks with a long bed or large SUV’s usually fit well in a 10×25 size unit.

Do you have outdoor/indoor vehicle storage?

We offer inside vehicle storage at all 11 locations and we have limited outside parking at a few of our locations.

Do you have RV parking spaces?

We have limited RV parking spaces at our Chesapeake location.

Do you sell packing supplies?

We offer a wide variety of packing supplies. Stop by our “one-stop” shop today and find all the tools you need to move like a pro.

I lost the key to my lock; what can I do?

You will need to call a locksmith and stop at the office with your photo ID. Speak to the manager of the facility for further details.

Do you allow PODS on the property?

We will allow a POD to be placed on the property to unload for 24 hours.

 Do you have a Refer A Friend program?

Yes.  Refer us someone who needs a storage space and when they rent with us we’ll give you a $50 Rent credit.


Renting a Unit:

What hours can a unit be rented?

Rent online 24/7. Complete and sign the rental paperwork and move-in daily from 9 AM – 9 PM.

Do I have to reserve a unit online before coming to the office to rent a unit?

No. Reserving a unit online will help speed up the rental process the day you stop by to complete and sign the rental paperwork.

What if I’m not sure what size space I need?

No problem. We will be happy to show you around the property and let you see a number of unit sizes. Seeing units in person is the best way to decide which size is best for you.

Do I have to sign a lease?

No, but a signed monthly Rental Agreement is required. All rentals are month-to-month.

What do I need to rent a unit?

Driver’s license or government-issued photo ID, a lock, and first month's payment. We accept the following forms of payment: check, money order, ACH bank debit, MasterCard, Visa, AMEX and Discover.

When can I move-in?

Immediately after you have completed all the rental paperwork and paid for the unit. Our gates are open daily 7 AM – 9 PM.

Can someone else rent a unit for me in my name?

No. The person renting the unit must be present to provide a valid photo ID and sign the Rental Agreement.

Do I need a lock?

Yes. You must provide/purchase your own lock and you keep the only key(s). We require a high-security lock, such as a disc lock, which can be purchased at all our facilities. Remember, the lock on your unit provides the last line of defense against an intruder; the better the lock, the better your defense.


On The Property:

What are your office hours?

Our managers are on duty at most locations Mon – Sat 9:30 AM – 6 PM.

What are the gate access hours?

7 AM – 9 PM 365 days a year.

Do you allow bands to practice on your facility or in your units?

Our storage units are for storing belongings. We do not allow bands to practice on our facility or in our units.

Do you provide pest control?

Yes, we use professional preventative exterminating measures at all locations.

Are moving truck/vans allowed on the property?

Yes, most of our driveways feature 30-foot widths that can easily accommodate the largest truck or van. If you’re planning to move in with an 18-wheeler, please let the manager know at the time of rental so that we may locate your unit nearest to the entrance.

Prohibited Items:

The following items may never be stored at Jack Rabbit:

·      Hazardous materials

·      Gasoline/propane tanks

·      Mothballs or any petroleum products

·      Explosives

·      Lithium batteries

·      Food

·      Grass seed

·      Contraband, illegal property

·      Perishable items

·      Animal feed

·      Animals, or animal carcasses
